Blogging 101 is mostly about the blogging vocabulary. To know and understand blogs and blogging, you need to know and understand the terms: blog, platform, domain, and web host. Blog is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order. That's all! Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called "blogging". Individual articles on a blog are called "blog posts", "posts" or "entries". A person who posts these entries is called a "blogger". Blogs are typically updated daily using a software program that lets people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Blogs use a conversational style of documentation. Often blogs focus on a particular niche or "area of interest", such as world events, political happenings or celebrity sightings. Some blogs discuss a persons daily life. A blogging platform refers to a computer software program that allows you to write posts and to update your blog. Your computer communicates with the host when you upload or edit a post. The domain is the online address of your blog and usually ends in "dot com"'.
